iSpot Connect eSIM Questions

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that can be installed directly into your smartphone or other mobile devices. It can be used as an alternative (or in addition) to the physical SIM card you’re used to.

Our eSIMS give you unlimited data access and unfortunately do not allow normal voice calls nor can you send or receive SMS messages.  However, voice calls can be made with no problem using instant messaging apps such as WhatsAp as they use your data connection for calls.

Most newer phones are eSIM compatible.  A list of compatible phones can be found here.

Yes, you can use an eSIM and a physical SIM card at the same time on many modern smartphones.

Here's how it works:

Most recent iPhone models (XS and newer) and many Android devices support this feature. Your phone essentially becomes a dual-SIM device, with one slot occupied by the physical SIM card and the other by the digital iSpot Connect eSIM.

This setup allows you to:

  • Use one number for calls and texts, and another for data

  • Maintain your home number while using a local number abroad

  • Separate personal and work lines on a single device

It's worth noting that while both SIMs can be active simultaneously, only one can use cellular data at a time. You can easily switch between them in your phone's settings.

For travelers, this feature is particularly useful. You can keep your home SIM active for important calls or texts, while using an iSpot Connect eSIM for cost-effective data during your trip.

Yes, you keep your WhatsApp number for all your conversations and contacts.

Yes. To ensure that your iSpot Connect eSIM gets the best coverage, you must turn on data roaming on your cellphone’s settings. This will not incur any additional charges, as long as you have already set up the iSpot Connect eSIM as your data SIM.

If you wish to extend your iSpot Connect eSIM usage or use the same eSIM for another rental period:

  1. Place your eSIM order here.
  2. Indicate the usage start date and number of days of usage desired.
  3. Indicate the eSIM ID of your eSIM (found at the top of the document emailed to you) or your original order number.
